In the framework of upcoming actions, India hosted the second Executive Committee (EC) 2016 of International School Sport Federation (ISF) in Mumbai, from 10th till 14th December 2016. India has been launching many new projects in view of boosting the school sport structuring. For the next two years, India will host three ISF events, ISF World Schools Championship of Cricket next April, ISF Combat Games 2017 in July and ISF World Schools Championship Badminton 2018. In addition, they are bidding for ISF Gymnasiade 2020.
During the EC, Robson Aguiar -the President of School Sport Foundation and Vice-President of the ISF, Mr. Shri N.B. Mote- Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Affairs of Maharashtra State, Cristina Branzoi and Nicos Megalemos -ISF assessors, met with local authorities and visited pupils aged from 06 to 11 years old, coming from neighbouring slums, from Aarey Colony Mun Elementary School, Maharashtra state.
The ISF representative had the opportunity to meet with the dean of the school who explained the dramatic situation pupils are coming from. Nevertheless, some class materials are taught in English which aims at giving a greater chance for them to accomplish a better future in this globalised world.
Grateful for their visit, four girls hosted the ISF representatives with a welcoming song from a local dialect. The SSF President, Robson Aguiar, initiated the donation; a range of material of different sports such as Badminton, Table tennis, soccer, knits and plots. A speechless moment which was marked with magnificent smiles that words can barely describe. A touching moment which has enhanced similar initiatives. Based on that 1st initiative, the Executive Committee unanimously approved similar donations to be conducted at each ISF events with materials collected from each foreign delegation.
Mr. Robson Aguiar also admitted the relevancy of hosting World Schools Championships which are catalyst for educating youngsters and giving them a greater chance sharing fundamental values.
